As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our financial records are public. MUFON has always been and will remain a volunteer organization: Field Investigators, State, and National Chapters are not paid, and the Board of Directors is legally prohibited from receiving compensation.

MUFON’s Funding & Your Impact

MUFON is funded through donations, membership dues, book and merchandise sales, the Annual Symposium, MUFON TV, podcasts, and licensing agreements with TV and film companies. These funds support our mission, with only three paid positions: the Executive Director, Office Director, and a part-time intern, along with a few specialized contractors paid as needed. When you become a member, you’re directly supporting our vital work in UFO research, investigation, and public education.

Advancing UFO Research: MUFON’s Growth & Innovation

MUFON is expanding its Case Management System (CMS) to create the world’s largest searchable and translatable UFO database—a major undertaking with costs exceeding $50,000 for digitization alone. Additionally, we’re investing in secure data infrastructure, expanding the MUFON laboratory, and developing a mobile command center. Our fully funded MUFON Museum in New York is also underway, further strengthening our mission to advance UFO research and investigation.
