NASA (The National Aeronautics and Space Administration) has hired 24 academic theologians to take part in a Princeton University Project to assess how humans will react if an extraterrestrial presence is discovered! The program is part of NASA’s Center for Theological Inquiry. So is this a message that contact is coming? Probably not!
The Reverend Andrew Davison has written a book called “Astrobiology and Christine Doctrine.” Between September 2016 and June 2017, Davison spent an academic year at Princeton as part of the program sponsored with $1.1 million from NASA called “The Societal Implications of Astrobiology,” the Sunday Times reported.
MUFON’s position is that this is well worn territory since the 1950s. Theologians at the time were consulted and generally have the same conclusions today that they had in 1950. Nothing will change!
The rush to disclosure has always been mired in the possibility that it would result in a societal decline and collapse of world religions if other civilizations especially superior to ours are found. The bottom-line today is that humans are far more sophisticated than we were in 1950. We would be more likely to take it in stride than fall apart if civilizations outside earth were discovered. Religious beliefs would survive. Society would survive and certainly move on to more mundane affairs within weeks because society needs Dunkin Donuts and such! We will survive the shock! The millions of dollars NASA imports into such unnecessary programs are abhorrent! It is only government bloat!
NASA teases us continually with the microbial possibilities of the Martian surface and Venusian clouds. This is surely a way to present alien life unlike ours exists and is probably truly out there. The problem arises when we extrapolate to societies like ours or far out in technological advancements to ours as well as their ability to reach us!
What is NASA aiming for here? To prepare us or to scare us or to continue a bloated government budget reliant on self-perpetuation?
Nothing new is under the sun here! The theological question has been proffered for decades! NASA does not have the answer.
