Witness states, “I’m writing to report a sighting of an object that I witnessed fall to earth many years ago. In the first three months of 1993, one day, at 8 a.m., at a motel formerly known as the Neptune Motor Inn, Prince Rupert, B.C., I was preparing for my work day as a power lineman and weather conditions were always highly consequential but more so as helicopters were involved in the project at the time. So, I looked out the motel room window to see which direction the rain was falling and how low the cloud cover was. This is when I saw an object falling out of the sky. Because it was cloudy at the time, the object was easily defined in the sky. I did get a clear look at it, although the sighting only lasted for two or three seconds. I witnessed the object disappear onto the top of Mount Oldfield behind the B.C. Hydro yard.
The object was tee shaped (T), likened to a block letter you might see on an old diner or theater and appeared to be metal, I thought it was a brushed stainless steel or possibly brushed aluminum.
It looked to be approx. 50 ft. (+) long on the longest piece of the tee and approx. 30 ft. (+) on the top part of the letter tee and the structure itself was approx. 6 ft. wide – approx. 3 ft. deep.
There were three round green circles visible on the body, one on the main body closer to the top, two on the upper portion. All seemed to be evenly spaced and resembled green light lenses.
Visually it showed no signs of damage (no fire, smoke, charring, ripped, dented or damage of any kind) as it probably would have had re-entering the earths’ atmosphere from space or broke apart in flight. This object did not resemble anything like a plane, helicopter, rocket, etc..
The object was falling on a shallow angle and from the east. It looked like an upside-down tee and slightly tilted to the right.
I immediately mentioned it to a coworker and got this response, “whatever you’re on, can I have some?” Because of that funny comment I put the sighting aside and concentrated on the work project. I felt for sure someone else must have witnessed it and phoned it in. Plus, I thought that the nearby airport must have picked it up on their radar. Anyway, I didn’t think I was going to find out what this object might be through any authorities. Just in case, I watched the local TV news and read the local newspaper but nothing was mentioned, a day or two later we finished the work project and we left town.
I was in the area two years later in 1995 and attempted a spontaneous hike up the mountain to see what I could find, but being ill-prepared, plus I had taken the hardest possible route (along the swampy right away under the power lines), it meant that I came up just short of the presumed crash area and had to go back due to darkness. I left the area the next day.
In 2017 I saw a satellite image from Google Earth of the area in question and noticed a odd rectangle shape in the landscape made by some slow melting snow. No snow was remaining around it, so it stuck out dramatically. The outline of the snow reminded me of the shape and size of the main body of the tee, (thinking that the two sections may have possibly separated upon impact) and it was also in the area where I thought the object crashed. I was emboldened to go back up the mountain for another look and started preparations to fly up to Prince Rupert.
Shopping in preparation for my return to Prince Rupert I met a cashier at the local Home Depot. While we made small talk as she ran my purchases through the register, she commented/questioned “looks like you’re going camping? hiking? where? etc.” I told her I was going up to Prince Rupert and she responded that she used to live in the area. I mentioned that I was going to hike up Mt. Oldfield because of what I had witnessed fall out of the sky. She was surprised and told me she was familiar with my story because her ex-husband was a helicopter pilot and flew over Mount Oldfield 12 years earlier and saw something on the ground. This makes the timeline of the pilot’s observations around 2004/05. Needless to say, I was quite shocked. She further told me her ex-husband turned back for another look, he hovered over the object and surmised that what he was looking at probably came from the Mir Space Station that came down a few years earlier in 2001. However, the object I saw falling from the sky was in the early part of 1993. That was the end of our conversation as she got busy; I thanked her and left. I went back to Home Depot to see if I could talk with her a little further, unfortunately I couldn’t find her again.
What I took from this unlikely meeting was, I saw what I saw, as did an experienced helicopter pilot. In our initial observations we both thought (according to his ex-wife) that this object was not a conventional aircraft of any kind laying on the top of Mount Oldfield but a construct that closer resembled a manmade spacecraft. And which also means, presumably, that no one else witnessed the object crash in early 1993. And that no one had found this object between 1993 to 2004/05, sadly, I may have found it had I made it to the top of the mountain in 1995.
In 2017 I found an existing trail on the opposite side of the mountain that lead up to the area. It was unfortunate to encounter a blizzard on this attempt although I made it to the site on my next trip. I was fully prepared to find nothing and nothing was found, except there were some areas where no trees were growing. The coordinates of the area I believe the object came down is approx. 54° 18’ 10.43” N; 130° 17’ 14.21“ W; ELEV 1817 ft.; EYE ALT 4354 ft. (from Google Earth).
I have spent years off and on researching as to what this object could be, concentrating on spacecraft from the time period and came up empty. The only tee shaped object in space I could find online were images of solar array arms on satellites. I’ve also read many UFO reports over the years and cannot find any reports of tee shaped objects being witnessed in the sky.
