MUFON’s Executive Director, Dave MacDonald, visited Washington D.C. this past week where he met with legislators from both sides of the aisle to position MUFON as the official civilian arm for UAP reporting.
-
MUFON met with the following congressional offices:
-
Congressman Tim Burchett (R-TN-02)
-
Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL-13)
-
Congressman Glenn Grothman (R-WI-06)
-
Senate Majority Leader, Chuck Schumer (D-NY)
-
Congressman Nick Langworthy (R-NY-23)
-
Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL-19)
-
Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH-04)
-
Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY-11)
-
Congressman Warren Davidson (R-OH-08)
-
Congresswoman Lori Trahan (D-MA-03)
-
Senator Ed Markey (D-MA)
-
Senator Mike Braun (R-IN)
-
These meetings allowed MUFON to meet and educate members of Congress on UAP while requesting that MUFON be considered the subject matter expert and have a seat at the table for all future conversations and proposed legislation regarding UAP and disclosure. A majority of these offices requested to be added to MUFON’s quarterly report, where they will receive updates, including reports on sightings, policy reports, and white papers authored by MUFON members.
Key legislation that was discussed included:
-
Senator Gillibrand’s NDAA amendment requesting to have the Department of Defense implement a civilian arm due to a lack of inclusivity. The current reporting system by the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) only allows government or military officials to report
-
Congressman Grothman’s Safe Airspace for Americans Act that allows FAA pilots to report UAP phenomena without criticism from the public or government
